A starting problem deserves proper investigation
A flat battery doesn’t always mean a failed battery. I assess the symptoms and carry out appropriate checks of battery condition, cranking performance and charging operation, where the vehicle’s condition allows.
Tester readings form part of the investigation alongside hands-on checks and what you’ve noticed. One tester cannot definitively diagnose every starting or charging fault. Some problems need charging and retesting, further investigation or specialist support; I’ll explain the findings and agree any further work with you.

You’re paying for my visit, appropriate testing, fault finding and professional advice. If no battery is needed, the £65 remains payable: understanding the problem can save you buying a battery that won’t solve it.
If replacement is needed after diagnosis, add the quoted battery supplier price and a discounted £20 collection and fitting charge.
Total: £85 plus the battery.
Collection from the supplier is included in the £20, even if it requires an extra journey.

For an agreed, direct battery replacement without a diagnostic visit, fitting is £50 plus the quoted battery price, subject to vehicle and job scope.

You approve the quote before I purchase the battery. I’ll confirm the battery supplier price, fitting scope and total. Any vehicle-specific coding or registration requirements will be discussed before you commit.

- We agree the visit. I confirm availability, access, scope and whether you need the £65 diagnosis or an agreed direct replacement.
- I check and explain. For a diagnostic visit, I carry out appropriate tests and discuss the findings and options.
- You approve any replacement. I quote the battery and total before purchase, then collect and fit it for the agreed charge. If more investigation is needed, we agree that separately.

Do I still pay £65 if I don’t need a new battery?
Yes. The £65 diagnostic call-out pays for the visit, appropriate checks, fault finding and advice. It is payable even if the battery does not need replacing or you decide not to proceed with a replacement.
What happens if a new battery is needed?
I confirm the quoted supplier price and get your approval before purchase. After the £65 diagnosis, the discounted collection and fitting charge is £20, so the total is £85 plus the battery. A £120 battery gives a £205 total; a £180 battery gives a £265 total.
Is an extra supplier collection journey charged separately?
No. After diagnosis, the £20 discounted collection and fitting charge includes collecting the agreed battery from the supplier, even when that means an extra journey.
Can I book replacement without diagnostics?
Yes, if the battery replacement requirement is already known and the job is suitable. Direct fitting is £50 plus the quoted battery price, subject to scope. I confirm the vehicle requirements and quote before purchase.
Can one battery test identify every non-start fault?
No. I consider battery condition, cranking and charging checks as appropriate, alongside the symptoms and hands-on inspection. A low state of charge, intermittent fault or other starting problem may need further checks. I explain any limitations and agree further work before proceeding.
Can you fit start-stop batteries or code a new battery?
Send your registration first. I’ll check the correct battery specification and any battery management registration or coding requirements, then confirm whether I can complete the job and what is included in your quote.
How soon can you come out?
Call or WhatsApp with your registration and location. I’ll confirm current availability and whether the vehicle and location are suitable; arrival times are agreed when booking.
